The main developers of Diablo 4 have stressed that they don't want players to "feel like they can pay to win" when the game launches next year.
In the latest Diablo 4 livestream(opens in new tab), game director Joe Shely, along with the associate director of games Joesph Piepiora, along with community director Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on everything Diablo 4, as well as providing an insight into how things will be conducted before the game's launch next summer.
During the livestream they discussed their thoughts on the Diablo 4 battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) and also the game's upcoming seasons. "It's very important to us that we keep in mind the things that you'd find in the battle pass" Piepiora told the crowd, "the way that they're compelling but still very fair. We do not want to create any scenarios where players can feel that they can pay to win. "To make a clear distinction from the Battle Pass and the seasons in Diablo 4 the game's seasons, Piepiora said that "the seasons are still the same in Diablo 4, in the same way you experienced it when you played Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic will provide players numerous goals throughout the season and will allow players to earn in-game rewards on their own characters. "All of the content for the season is available for free. It's not tied to buy diablo II resurrected items the battle pass," Shely adds.
